Seeking a great mentor

Ainsley Darvell from Flying Kites - Kumeu

🟡Are you straight up, confident and fair?
🟡Are you looking for part time work in Ranui?
🟡Could you be a strong role model for a disabled teen?

If you consider yourself a sensible, reliable and calm person, then this could be the job for you. A teenage girl with a disability is looking for someone to help her fill her afternoons and weekends with meaningful, engaging activities. You might support her to head to the shops, join an afterschool activity or spend some time outdoors.

Her intellectual disability means that she needs someone with her to help her make safe decisions, but she is independent on most of her daily tasks. Your role will be to encourage her, set boundaries and make sure she is staying safe.
We need 10-14 hours of support each week, but we are open to afternoons, evenings and weekends depending on what will work best with your schedule and her commitments. You need to have a full driver licence and a car to be successful in this role. $24 - $30 per hour

If this sounds like the job you have been looking for, please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message

Flying Kites helps people with disabilities find amazing people to support them to live their lives and achieve their dreams. #FlyingkitesNZ

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.

We want to know: Should mining projects like this move ahead?
