Do you care about other peoples' wellbeing?
Would doing the small things that make a big difference to this person’s life make you feel good?
Are you answering yes to all these questions?? Great!! Then we might have the perfect part time job for you.
We are looking for a caring person to help a woman in her 60’s in the evenings. Her physical mobility is extremely limited and so she needs someone to cook, help with jobs around the home and help her get ready and comfortable for bed.
If you can help prepare and serve meals, understand the difference small details make to someone and handle the hands on support tasks that she needs your assistance with – this could be a great match! It is vital you can use your initiative to see what needs doing and are willing to listen and communicate if you don't understand what to do.
This job would suit someone who loves helping others and thrives on making a difference. Attention to the small details is essential to do a good job. Training on the job will be organised for the right applicant.

🟡Could you be a strong role model for a disabled teen?

If you consider yourself a sensible, reliable and calm person, then this could be the job for you. A teenage girl with a disability is looking for someone to help her fill her afternoons and weekends with meaningful, engaging activities. You might support her to head to the shops, join an afterschool activity or spend some time outdoors.

Her intellectual disability means that she needs someone with her to help her make safe decisions, but she is independent on most of her daily tasks. Your role will be to encourage her, set boundaries and make sure she is staying safe.
We need 10-14 hours of support each week, but we are open to afternoons, evenings and weekends depending on what will work best with your schedule and her commitments. You need to have a full driver licence and a car to be successful in this role. $24 - $30 per hour

If this sounds like the job you have been looking for, please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message

Could you spare an hour a week to help a man in his 30s with a disability. He is a capable guy, who just needs a little bit of support and advice to keep things on track.

He loves rugby, tramping, movies and all things mechanical. He is friendly and engaging and leads a busy life with a full time job and a partner. He is looking for someone who can check in with him each week, help him problem solve any issues that come up and help him realise when he has got things under control.

The support would have to be in the evenings or weekends when he isn't working, but we can be pretty flexible about when. The compensation is generous for the right person and if that might be you then we would really love to chat.
