One of New Zealand's rarest birds found injured and malnourished on busy highway
A rare and endangered New Zealand bird is fighting for its life after being rescued from a busy Auckland highway.
The severely malnourished matuku was found nursing a damaged wing by State Highway 16 in Helensville on August 27.
