How are you going to be impacted by changes in banking?
Mayors around the country have called on the government to intervene in bank closures around the country.
33 mayors around the country have signed an open letter to Jacinda Ardern asking her government to investigate the closures. The mayors stated that access to ATMs would not address the social harm and depravities for provincial and farming communities.
Last week, Kiwibank announced that it would close seven of its branches, with BNZ confirming it would close 38 branches nationwide.
BNZ Chief Customer Officer, Paul Carter, said three-quarters of their customers are digitally active.
“The majority of our customers are banking online and our talented bankers are often waiting in empty branches for customers that simply do not arrive,” he said.
BNZ customer Jasmine Polglase was more concerned for her grandparents, who banked with the BNZ.
“They don’t have a computer, like many elderly. But unlike my grandparents, some here don’t have family to do banking for them and help them navigate that sort of thing.”

From 6am tomorrow morning, Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 and the rest of New Zealand will move to Alert Level 2. The measures will remain in place for the next seven days.

The Prime Minister and the Director-General of Health are currently providing an update to media in the Beehive.
Ardern has confirmed that health authorities have found a possible person to person link for how Case M and N picked up Covid-19. This could eliminate concern that there are other chains of transmission to identify.
Ashley Bloomfield asked people to keep an eye out for atypical symptoms
"This new variant of the virus, the B117, does seem to be presenting with symptoms that are not the typical respiratory symptoms," he said.
If you have muscle aches, do consider this might be a Covid-19 symptom.

Auckland is now at Alert Level 3 and the rest of the country will move to Alert Level 2 until at least 6 March.
Here's what you need to know:
- Case M, the latest Covid-19 case, is a 21-year-old male, the older sibling of a Papatoetoe High School student.
- If you have symptoms of concern, call the NZ Covid-19 Healthline on 0800 358 5453 or call your GP.
- Find your closest Covid-19 testing location on the Healthpoint website
- Essential services such as supermarkets and pharmacies will remain open.
- Customer-facing businesses will need to move to non-contact methods of payment and collection.

This appears to be a non-notifiable activity for which the FNDC has already issued the requisite Resource Consents. The location will be on the road reserve immediately adjacent to the road boundary of the property at No.5 Doves Bay Road, some 100 metres from the dwelling at No.1, 60 metres from the dwelling at No.9, 25 metres from the yet to be built dwelling at No.5, and roughly opposite the mailbox of No.2. The tower is to be 15 metres high and the associated structure/cabinets will cover 2 m2. The entire structure will be located on the council road reserve. As the cellphone reception for Vodafone has always been poor around much of the Doves Bay, Opito Bay, Kerikeri Peninsular area, it is assumed that the new tower is to be a Vodafone tower although this remains to be confirmed. A transformer to supply power to the tower has already been installed on the site adjacent to the small group of kanuka trees on the road reserve. For further information see the attached Resource Consent application and environmental assessment report from the Rural Connectivity Group.
