Did you know there is a rāhui on Ninety Mile Beach/Te Oneroa a Tōhe?

Denise Piper Reporter from Northern News

Part of Ninety Mile Beach/Te Oneroa a Tōhe is closed for shellfish gathering and recreation after the death of three sperm whales. One of the three died after trying to ingest plastic, Sheridan Waitai from Ngāti Kurī said.
More tests will be done to confirm the whales' genetics, and their resources will be used culturally. The rāhui runs from Te Paki Stream to Matapia until October 27.
