Large numbers of black field crickets have been encroaching on homes and gardens across the North Island, keeping residents awake with their chirping and hopping underfoot.
Black field crickets are born normally born November when they generally spend time in the grass.
But by peak summer in January, especially if its been a dry period, they move deep into ground cracks and only come out at night.

We have received a number of calls over the past few weeks from people asking if the Pukekohe Refuse and Recycling Transfer Station is still open and accepting waste. To dispel any misinformation that may be circulating, the answer is YES, YES, YES!

Our hours are:
Monday - Friday: 7.30am - 4.30pm
Saturday - Sunday: 8.30am - 3.30pm
Public Holidays: Closed

We accept both general waste and green waste by the bag, boot or trailer load. So, load on up and visit us at 10 Austen Place (off Crosbie Road), Pukekohe.
