Now that the weekend’s over and things have calmed down a bit, the Neighbourly Team are keen to hear from you: how are you feeling about it all?
Summer’s coming, and holidays are on the horizon … should we be focusing on the future rather than the past quarter? Or is this dip in the road a real concern?

Mobility car parks are few and far between. And too many people, without the need of them, without permits, park in them “just for a minute”.
In Havelock North it seems to be improving. But…
Mobility scooters are just as much of a problem, parking in mobility car parks. Please don’t.
In HN, there are plenty of wide footpaths and accessible areas where you can park your mobility scooters, even under cover, including New World, but not many where I can park my 6.3m long, 2.5m wide, 2.9m high mobility permitted van. I don’t fit just anywhere.
I carry passengers who are visually impaired, blind, disabled, physically frail, suffering dementia and have other health, physical or cognitive difficulties. I can’t just park anywhere.
It’s easier for you to find parks for your scooter, than it is for me with my van.
You can even drive your mobility scooter into some businesses.
Please, Please, Please, don’t park mobility scooters in mobility car parks.

Every night, this week, I’ve looked out our annex window and seen an ultra bright light, in the middle of Hastings.
It seems to be up Heretaunga St, around the Theatre area.
Does anyone know what it is?
I’ve never seen it before, in the 7 years I’ve lived with this view.

New Zealand has among the highest proportions of threatened or at-risk species in the world, and around 25 million native birds are killed by introduced predators every year. But it's not all bad news - when predators are removed or controlled, nature bounces back fast. We’ve already seen it happening in many parts of the country!
People all over Aotearoa are doing their bit - setting traps in their backyards, planting natives, volunteering, or donating. You can too! Backyard trapping is one example of effective individual action.
What do you think? Can we reach our Predator Free target in 2050?
