Fundraiser Aug 30th "The Rescued Plate"

Christina from Havelock North

Hello everyone! (buy tickets by going onto our website www.nourishedfornil.nz... or FB)

I thought up and started the food rescue group Nourished for Nil 18 months ago based in Hastings, Karamu rd. I began this, now rather ambitious, endeavour because I shuddered at the thought of what cafes did with leftover food at the end of each business day. I had read about people starting food rescue programs in France and America and that they were not only successful but also helped families who struggled with food security. I met a woman who started a food rescue in Palmerston North (Just Zilch) and was inspired to try it here! Anyway, long story short, Nourished for Nil has been running great guns here in our very own backyard now since Feb 2017. Our motto is Food Rescue, we aren't a foodbank so we aren't worried who comes to collect the food during our redistribution hour each day 430-530pm, because it would only go to waste otherwise. No conditions, no forms, no questions. Everyone is welcome!

We achieved charitable status this past June and just this week were able to employ our first full time employee (an amazing woman who has been on a benefit for years!) thanks to some seriously generous sponsorship!

Im posting here because we holding our Second Annual Fundraiser called The Rescued Plate, www.facebook.com... on Thursday August 30th at the Hastings Art Gallery from 6 to 730pm. Last years fundraiser was a HUGE success because we secured 3 sponsors who have since agreed to pay the rent of the building we are in and because the Clearview Estate Winery owner
www.clearviewestate.co.nz... came along and offered to host this year's event!
We were so rapt. So this month's fundraiser (all proceeds going to the continued running of Nourished for Nil ), will cost $50 a head and Clearviews head chef Peter Hallgarth will create delicious finger foods from only rescued food, plus generously donated Clearview wines will be available as well Brave Brewery beer to everyone. bravebrewing.co.nz.... We will also feature our latest 'day in the life' video shot by the talented local photographer Richard Brimmer, and auction a piece of donated art by www.mauriciobenega.com... also a Hawkes Bay artist.

I would like to invite everyone along for a great evening of getting to know more about what we do, how you can volunteer if it looks like your cup of tea, or donate to this worthy cause. Please pass this invite to anyone you think might be intersted!

THANKING YOU in advance and I hope to meet some of you on the night!
Feel free to check us out on FB we post regularly what's going on.
