Change for plastics?
A decision on ‘where to from here’ for plastic recycling will be made this week. Rapid changes in the recycling market mean almost all traditional markets have stopped importing used plastics. The council will consider all options this week, including only collecting plastics that recyclers will take.
The good news is that there is a market for clean plastic bottles in New Zealand.
Any change will be phased in to give residents time to get the info through a large range of channels.
