If you find a swarm of bees and want a beekeeper to take care of it, to grow our bee population, please call Charles on 021 964000 any time.

Swarming bees will settle in a tree or on a structure while they are looking for a new home. They are very unlikely to sting. They will stay in a large clump for warmth and to protect the queen for a few hours so that is the time for the beekeeper to provide them with a hive for their new home.

This is our only fundraiser for the year, the malls pay for all resources, and all donations come directly to help us support 320 other charities in our region. Gift wrapping shifts are 4 hours long, and you need to be available for at least three during the month. It's tonnes of fun, you can bring a friend/family member, and training is provided. The Council is proposing a big change in our city’s rubbish and recycling collection. Currently we have a bagged rubbish collection, with some recycling, but we think Hamilton can do better.

Over time, the cost to throw rubbish into landfill is going to increase. As a city, we need to reduce what we throw into landfill, so we’re looking at a wheeled bin kerbside collection that lets us recycle a lot more – including food waste.

We want your views on whether we should make this change or stay with what we do now. Consultation information is available at your local library or from the Council office in Civic Square. For more information, or to make an online submission, go to fightthelandfill.co.nz or contact us on 07 838 6699.

Just released from Cycling New Zealand.

We have been building a program designed for trained volunteer riders taking social rides. Ride Leaders are trained by Cycling New Zealand on free courses to get more people out riding. We encourage people to participate in group rides, which are either on cycle pathways or roads, being assisted along the way by Leaders who enjoy sharing their love of cycling with others, and help encourage regular participation in cycling by providing a supportive and engaging environment to ride. We always try to end the ride with coffee and a chat.
