Bees and bee swarms

Charles from Tamahere

Bees are becoming very active in our gardens and trees, so if you see a bee swarm, and want help to sort it out or have it removed, I will willingly attend the site with all the required gear to look after and save our bees.
I am an approved AFB inspector, member of the Waikato Domestic Beekeepers Association and Apiculture New Zealand who has taken up beekeeping as a hobby in Tamahere, where we have room for bees to flourish.
Please call me on 021964000 any time if you need help with a bee swarm.
When swarming bees are relatively harmless (they generally will not sting you if you don't mess with them), as all they want to do is find a new home. They will settle in one spot for up to 24 hours and may move on if they can't find what they need, so time is critical to give them a hive to settle into. We don't want them living wild (not in a hive) as this can result in the death of these bees due to varroa mites or AFB or other disease issues. Also wild bees can infect other bees and are a threat to bees looked after in hives by responsible beekeepers.

Poll: Do you use the district nursing service?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

The health system has been accused of breaking the law amid sky-rocketing demand for community-based nurses in Waikato.

This comes as the supply of district nurses lags behind referral increases of more than 100%, leading to staff burn out and an “unprecedented” service failure.

Do you use the district nursing service? Tell us more in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).
