Robert runs a non-profit called Whangarei Native Bird Recovery where he treats and rescues native birds until they are able and healthy enough to go back into the wild.

This little guy was rescued from a popular and busy park earlier today. He would've fallen from his nest and as they cannot fly at this age was unable to get back to his nest! This makes morepork very vulnerable to predators.

Robert will keep 'Biggles' (dubbed by Lyn) until he's grown all his feathers and able to fly. Also, we HAD to get a photo op with our own Spark Morepork pamphlets :)

Six cases of measles in the Waikato region have prompted the district health board to put out a warning.
People should catch up on their measles immunisations, medical officer of health, Dr Richard Hoskins said.
If you have been in contact with someone while they were infections with measles, you should stay at home for 14 days after the contact, or until your immunity from the disease is proven, the DHB said.
