Melissa Smith for City Council West Ward

Melissa from Pukete

Kia ora Neighbourly! My name is Melissa and I'm a candidate for the West Ward in the upcoming local elections. My priorities for the city are better transport, better housing, and action on climate change.

I'm organising some Meet and Greets in the community to chat with voters, introduce myself, and hear your concerns.

I'm feeling unwell at the moment so I don't have anything lined up for this week, but I'd love to know which places/what times you'd like to meet with me next week.

I'll also be at all the Meet the Candidate events over the next few weeks.

Please let me know below or ask me any questions about my vision for Hamilton!

Keep an eye on your mailboxes for your voting papers and make sure to send your papers back by 8 October!

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
