“LET’S TALK ABOUT WORDS: A Translinguistic Seminar on Word Anatomy, Etymology and Creativity” with Cristina Schumacher

todd from EarthDiverse

If you’re an author, teacher, researcher, creative or simply feel that there is a lot more to words than straightforward messages, then this 3-hour workshop is for you! Come explore the language mechanisms behind word formation and learn how to express yourself creatively through building your own, exclusive and unique words that anyone will understand. Learn about the fascinating field of etymology; how the seeds of words travel through time and different languages, creating strings of meaning that reveal how we think and see the world.

Our Term 4 workshop will be held on Saturday 12 November 2022 from 10:00am-1:00pm (NZ time).
This workshop is both in-person and live-streamed via Zoom.

For more information on this and all of our other courses, workshops and professional development opportunities, please visit our website.

From rugged campsite to 7.5ha resort

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Grant Kilby has always loved camping. His mum was director of health at the YMCA, and he would attend YMCA camps in the school holidays. “I think it was mandatory that I was there,” he jokes.

He went on camping holidays with his parents, and later, took his own kids.
“Camping’s been in my blood.”
