Sine Wave-Music Concert- Sat, Feb 9th
When: Saturday February 9th, Victoria On The River,
7pm, free concert.
If raining the event will be rescheduled.
Press Release:
Victoria on the River will soon be filled with the weird and wonderful sounds of some of Hamilton’s finest ambient and electronic musicians.
Sine Wave is the first of a series of free outdoor concerts in Hamilton’s central city, organised by the Hamilton Live Music Trust.
Rather than focusing on accessible pop or rock, Sine Wave will focus on ambient and electronic musicians (to be clear, not DJs or electronic dance music), blending organic and synthetic sounds into a range of musical soundscapes.
Sine Wave features musical performances from Dr Mesmer’s Private Army, Noise Control (an ensemble, not the council enforcement officers!) and Thom Burton.
Bring along your dinner or some snacks and attend a musical event that promises to be a little different, a little bit weird, but a totally unforgettable experience
Musical acts:
Dr Mesmer’s Private Army
It may sound a bit like a private paramilitary organisation, but it is in fact some of Hamilton’s finest musicians teamed up together to create a supergroup of sorts, featuring Dr Jeremy Mayall, Kent Macpherson, Paul Bradley and Eszter Le Couteur-McComb. Dr Mesmer’s is a true multimedia experience – the band feature live drawing and animation by local artist Pauly B, whose artwork is featured on many buildings in central Hamilton. A true audio-visual experience that has to be seen and heard.

Thom Burton
Thom Burton is no stranger to the New Zealand music scene. He is a member of SoccerPractise, who have received accolades from music critics across the country, a former member of Hamilton-based duo Yokel Ono, and he has previously performed solo under the alias Moppy. New Zealand Musician Magazine called him “a bit of a genius” for his guitar and production skills.

Noise Control
Noise Control takes a familiar musical genre (Drum and Bass) and subvert audience expectations – there are no DJs or pre-recorded beats and samples. All music is performed live with drummer extraordinaire Matt Mooney and keyboardist Timmy D. Noise Control recently performed at the 2018 Hamilton Fringe Festival and Smash the Rail Festival.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
