Hi everyone,

A housing shakeup is planned for Waikato, aimed at helping people get out of unstable renting situations.

At its heart is a trust which would own land and charge a "peppercorn lease" to people who own or rent houses on it.

Hamilton City Council is setting aside $2 million to start the trust and has been talking with various community groups - but hopes it will attract more contributors and go Waikato-wide.

What do you think of the plan? Should the city council be tackling these kinds of issues?

Everyday Kiwi kids are faced with obstacles that can be hard to overcome. All Tamariki deserve the chance to have a great future – sometimes all they need is a helping hand and guidance along the way.

That’s what the Graeme Dingle Foundation does. Our programmes help young people thrive, develop confidence in who they are to make the most of their precious lives and become positive contributors to our communities.

We are proud to be the official charity of New Zealand Rugby.

Together we’re showing Kiwi Kids that what they have inside is greater than any obstacle.

I was honoured to visit Hamilton Christian School yesterday to help make the announcement around them moving towards becoming an integrated school, which will cut parent fees and provide extra educational resources for the school.

Since my election to Parliament I have been a strong advocate of this proposal, speaking with Minister Hipkins on many occasions.

I am excited to see progress in this area, and thank the school leadership for the excellent work they have done and continue to do.

Hamilton Christian School has won government approval to negotiate to become an integrated state school. www.stuff.co.nz....
