Hi Booklovers! Thank you for your support to date. In particular there have been many interesting books among the various lots of donations coming in.

There have been many requests over the years for books on fishing which I was usually unable to supply, however we have been very fortunate. We now have enough books and DVDs to set up a new box in the sports section.

Today we had a couple of boxes of older cricket and rugby books arrive – very interesting.

For the lady who was looking for Camilla Lackberg – I now have one of hers – please email me to find out if it is one you want. I have a new Peter Fitzsimons book for the gentlemen who was asking – please email me re this.

I have found the box of Horse and Pony magazines. I have also taken to the hall this evening a big pile of the Australian Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft magazines – all looking for new homes.

There are lots of new books being sorted into their boxes daily so please don't forget to come in again before we close on Sunday.

I have had several responses to my earlier email requesting that only vaccinated persons come into the hall for my book fair. Perhaps I should make myself clearer. I am not asking to see vaccination passes as I have no wish to embarrass anyone in front of others, nor can I afford to employ someone to check them for me. I will be putting up a sign on Tuesday to reflect this position. I have asked those unvaccinated persons who wish to attend to come either early in the morning (9 – 10am) or late in the afternoon (5 – 6pm) when there are fewer people in the hall. Additionally, I will be working every day until mid-January and I cannot afford to go off sick. I do not have anyone who can cover for me (even if I could afford to pay them) so I must remain healthy – and I expect all my customers want to remain healthy as well.

Best wishes and stay safe

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

If the races gallop off to Tamahere, “exciting things” could happen with the sizeable city site they leave behind, property experts say.

On Tuesday, the Waikato Times revealed Waikato Thoroughbred Racing’s (WTR) plans to buy 150ha of farmland south of Hamilton to house the region’s three racing clubs at a new purpose-built racecourse and event centre.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
