Rash response to cafe note on nappy changing

Matthew Dallas Reporter from Manawatū Standard

A two-sentence note to customers set off a firestorm of online emotion and negative reviews for a Palmerston North cafe. Are people too quick to be offended these days or are they justifiably riled?

OSCAR WINNING SONGS

Globe Theatre

You Light Up My Life – The Oscar Winners (The Globe, March 7/8) is a montage of memorable songs that received the red carpet treatment at the Academy Awards.

You Light Up My Life, sung by Debbie Boone, won the Oscar in 1977 and is just as popular today. Each song will be introduced by the movie to give the audience the feel of the era and then presented as a classic rendition.

The line-up includes James Bond’s Live And Let Die, Shallow from A Star Is Born and Happy from Despicable Me. Other enduring songs include Never On Sunday, Georgy Girl and The Way We Were.

A line-up of Manawatu’s top singers, with accompaniment and arrangement from Roger Buchanan will showcase the songs at The Globe, Saturday, March 7 at 7.30pm and Sunday, March 8 at 2.30pm.

Tickets $27.50 (adults), $25 (seniors/students).

Politics

Maxine Jacobs Reporter from Manawatū Standard

Ata mārie kiritata,

The seat for Palmerston North's MP is in for a battle its never seen before. National's candidate William Wood, 18, has launched campaign for the city today. Labour incumbent Iain Lees-Galloway, 41, said he will be campaigning on his record of action of the city.

Can a recent high school graduate match - and beat - a seasoned politician for the people's vote?

What do you think?

Breakfast on One

Julie from Feilding

Just finished watching Breakfast on One and wondering if anyone can tell me why they have those lines moving diagonally on the screen behind the presenters. They're so distracting and I can't see any benefit from them.
