Fire Restrictions in Christchurch
We're getting a lot of enquiry about this, so to clarify: The Christchurch City Council has imposed fire restrictions (a fire ban) in all urban areas until further notice. The lighting of all fires in the open air is banned, including charcoal and wood-fired barbecues and other solid fuel burning devices.
It's not all bad news: Gas barbecues and gas cookers are exempt from this ban.
