Recycling bins confiscated in Christchurch after residents ignore pleas to separate waste

Jake Kenny Reporter from Community News

A growing number of Christchurch households have lost their right to recycle as the city council takes a hard line on people who refuse to separate their waste.

Twenty-six yellow bins have been confiscated by the Christchurch City Council and another 52 will be removed from city streets over the next two weeks.

The residents have been warned three times but continue to put contaminated waste in their recycling bins.

To get the bins back, they will have to pay $97.65 and sign a statement promising to abide by the rules. Their bins will be monitored to make sure they keep that promise.

Seeking adults (18+) from the general population to participate in a survey

Emma from Addington

Seeking adults (18+) from the general population to participate in a survey

My name is Emma Tupper and I am a Master’s of Criminal Justice student at the University of Canterbury. As part of my degree, I am required to conduct research on a topic of interest. My research is on public opinions and perspectives of adults with a sexual interest in children and looking at the effects that framing has on the referral and public support for a planned preventive service for adults with a sexual interest in children.

Participation involves completing a survey that will ask a range of questions about your opinion on adults with a sexual interest in children and your opinion on a planned preventive service that will be available for adults with a sexual interest in children. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete through Qualtrics (an online host).

Only fully completed questionnaires can be included, so if you only partially complete it, your results will not be used in the analysis of the results.

Participation is completely anonymous and you will not be asked to provide any identifying information; only general demographic information of age, gender, and ethnicity.

The only requirement is that you have to be 18 years or older.

If you would like to participate click on the link below, read the information sheet provided and complete the survey.
