The Christchurch City Council decided to increase the price from $10 to $15 citing the Christchurch Hospital park-and-ride operating from the parking building and new shops and businesses opening nearby.
"There is now high demand for short stay parking and the Lichfield St parking building regularly nears capacity," it said.
The new charge will start on July 1. The council said it hoped charging more would free up more short stay parking spaces.
The Lichfield St car park building has 805 parks and initially ran below capacity.
It's my son's favorite but I have to sell it as my new rent house is too small.
It has tuned end of last year, there are two keys broken at the end of left side which is hardly used, other keys are perfect and it sounds lovely.
