Step Ahead is a place of acceptance and well-being for those with mental health issues in Canterbury.
A community-based not-for-profit providing a relaxing space where you can make friends, learn new skills, try new things, have fun, and learn how to better manage life’s everyday challenges.
There are usually five or more activities available for members every day of the week. These activities take place at their Stanmore Road (Linwood) and Puriri Street (Fendalton) locations, around Christchurch city, and in Rangiora and Ashburton.

The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.
