Christchurch recycling temporarily halted during Covid-19 crisis

Anna Williams Reporter from The Press

Mixed paper, plastic and glass from Christchurch and Banks Peninsula households will go to landfill, instead of being recycled. If people are struggling to fit all their general rubbish in their red wheelie bin during the lockdown, they can put excess in the yellow wheelie bin - temporarily.

Recycling

Graham from Spreydon

Hey people. If you are anything like me & attempt to recycle as much as possible, because of the virus the recycling depot isn't having people on the sorting belts so all our recycling is going straight to Kate Valley & into the ground. Please if you can hold onto your yellow bin recycling material until the end of the lock-down. Maybe to make space in your bin, sort the bottles out & put them aside, squash all your plastic bottles, do whatever it takes to make space so you don't have to put your bin out until this is over.

The struggle is real

Toetu from Opawa - Saint Martins

I've been clean and sober for the longest part of my life now since I was 13 years old. It feels good to be able to breathe and not hear my lungs wheezing or to cough and not have any phlegm choking my throat. I still miss the high though but definitely not the lifestyle. Although I’m clean, I still act like I’m not sometimes. I guess there are parts of that life that is still a part of me now but not controlling me anymore. Addiction is a hard life to get out of and stay out of. But trust me, when you break that chain, watch your world change.
