A new $21 million pool will be built on the corner of Smith St and Linwood Ave. The site, which used to house a council nursery and was already council-owned, was the option most favoured by the community. Almost 90 per cent of the 487 submissions favoured it.
Community leaders have been calling for a pool in the Linwood/Woolston area since before the earthquakes, but some city councillors have questioned the cost of the facility.
