The actual date of Matariki will move but is expected to always fall on a Friday or Monday.
The first day off will be Friday June 24 in 2022.
Government advice suggests the new Matariki public holiday will cost businesses between $377 - $448 million.
But that advice does not include any potential economic benefits from the new public holiday, set to be introduced from next year.
The estimated cost has come under fire from ACT leader David Seymour who said the public holiday amounted to a tax on business.
Seymour suggested that the Government get rid of another public holiday to make way for Matariki.

The installation of the Onewa Road cameras will be in two phases:
* Phase 1: The first phase of the works, preparing the pole foundations and cables, is scheduled for late February 2021 and will take up to three weeks to be completed. This will involve drilling at some of the camera locations along Onewa Road.
* Phase 2: The second phase of the works, installing the poles and cameras, is scheduled to start in May 2021 and will take up to one week to be completed.
The cameras should be operational from June. For the first 3 weeks, Auckland Transport will issue warning letters to drivers who use the lane incorrectly. From July (date to be confirmed), $150 infringement fees will be issued.

Here's what you need to know:

- These restrictions will be reviewed February 22.
- There has been an additional 1 case confirmed, with the positive case a member of the same household bubble.

Here's what you need to know:
- The Prime Minister says there's a variety of scenarios on how the virus got into the community. To date, health officials are still attempting to establish the source of the outbreak.
- 42 people have been identified as close contacts.
- The first batch of Pfizer vaccines - 60,000 doses - arrived this morning on a Singapore Airlines flight.
- Vaccines will be offered to border and MIQ workers from this Saturday.
- This will be the largest vaccine programme in New Zealand's history, Jacinda Ardern says.

For the third time since the onset of the pandemic, Auckland is in lockdown.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern addressed the nation at 7.00pm Sunday, saying from 11.59pm tonight, Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 until at least 11.59pm Wednesday night.
The rest of the country will move to Alert Level 2.
Here's what you need to know:
- Stay home, in your bubbles if you are in Auckland. Gatherings with others outside this bubble are prohibited.
- A border will be established around Auckland, similar to the demarcations before.
- Essential services such as supermarkets and pharmacies will remain open.
- Aucklanders are asked to wear facial coverings when accessing essential services.
- Customer-facing businesses will need to move to non-contact methods of payment and collection.

There is one new case of Covid-19 in managed isolation, a week after the most recent community outbreak was announced in Auckland.
The new case arrived in New Zealand from Singapore on February 16 and tested positive after their routine day 3 test. One previously reported case has been reclassified as under investigation, meaning the number of active cases remains at 51.
The Ministry of Health also confirmed all close contacts associated with the Auckland family of three at the centre of the latest community outbreak had returned negative tests.
These include those linked to the school and travel group to New Plymouth.
The last cases detected in the community were on Friday, taking the total linked to the cluster involving a daughter, mother and father, to seven.
Papatoetoe High School
As at 8am on Sunday, a total of 31 close contacts and 1,413 casual plus contacts had been identified at Papatoetoe High School.
Twenty five health professionals were the first in the country to be vaccinated on Friday, before they administered the vaccines.
The number of casual plus contacts has again decreased due to some people not being at school at the time of exposure, the ministry said.
Of the casual plus contacts, that include the wider student and staff school population, 1,395 have returned negative results, with one positive (Case E, who is a classmate of the original case), and 17 results still to come in.
One negative result, reported on Saturday has been removed from the tally as that person is no longer considered a casual plus contact.
