I went to Onepoto Domain to walk my dog on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. I was horrified to see a thick layer of algae sludge completely covering the lake on one side of the little bridge. All the ducks had disappeared. I observed that the sludge was increasing to the other side of the bridge … View moreI went to Onepoto Domain to walk my dog on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. I was horrified to see a thick layer of algae sludge completely covering the lake on one side of the little bridge. All the ducks had disappeared. I observed that the sludge was increasing to the other side of the bridge too. However a team of volunteers were busy trying to scoop up the sludge at the far end. Well done! Not an easy nor a thankful task. They all deserve a medal. However, the Council should promptly get onto this problem before the algae completely blocks off the outlet to the sea, and completely smothers the whole lake.
