It comes a week before the DHB officially launches its vaccination programme for its 8600 staff.
In a media release, the DHB said it would start with 1820 higher-risk staff members who are more at risk of contracting the virus through direct patient contact if community transmission was to occur.
North Shore Hospital emergency department nurse Tegan Mayo received her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this week.
"The whole process was painless and I encourage everyone to get vaccinated when the opportunity arises, Mayo said.
"It was exciting and I was glad to be part of history being made."
Vaccination clinics for healthcare workers have been set up at both North Shore Hospital and Waitākere Hospital.
DHB chief executive Dale Bramley said vaccinations beginning was an important milestone in protecting the community from Covid-19.
"An incredible amount of work has gone on to get these clinic up and running and the vaccination of our staff will provide yet another layer of protection for all those who use and visit our facilities."

Thank you to everyone who submitted questions about their sickly plant babies. Houseplants might be fashionable, but they can be tricky to get right. Whether it’s the wrong light, too much or too little water, or a pesky draft, it doesn’t take much for your prize peace lily to turn yellow or an infestation of bugs to set in.
We put some of your houseplant questions to the plant doctors from Kings Plant Barn to diagnose. Find their answers here.

Pettersen’s canvases are populated by shorebirds—from Kuaka (Bar-tailed Godwits), to Kotuku-ngatupapa (Royal Spoonbills)—placed deftly against painterly, abstracted seascapes and wetlands. The artist’s mastery of uncanny perspective and fluid brushstrokes animate the canvas in a manner that deserves to be viewed in person.
In the words of Pettersen: ‘What If? presents a counter narrative to the early colonial paintings by artists such as Augustus Earle, Fox, and Heaphy. They are filled with natural activity and an abundance of birds and mammals that would have once inhabited the environment, rather than landscapes presenting opportunity for unlimited human activity.’
It has been serendipitous to have the work of Twiss and Pettersen overlap, allowing for different perspectives of conservation to interact between the two gallery spaces. Thank you to those who joined us on Saturday for Dr. Marie-Louise Ward’s talk and the opening of Wendy Pettersen – What If?

A year on, police say “his fate remains unknown” and his case looks set to be referred to the coroner. Caroline Williams reports.
During his time in Auckland, Rolland went to the zoo, enjoyed nights out, worked at a popular bar, dabbled in modelling and, with friends, visited Piha on the rugged west coast.
Before his disappearance, Rolland expressed to his family that he wished to visit Piha again, and on March 6 last year, he did just that.
He has not been seen or heard from since.
“Each day we feel more and more worried and more helpless," his father Thierry Rolland tells Stuff.
