High winds on Harbour Bridge and trains cancelled

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Aucklanders are advised to expect potential disruptions as Metservice reports high winds on the Harbour Bridge. Trains on the Eastern and Western lines have also been cancelled. Delays are expected, with felled trees, power disruptions and heavy rain experienced city-wide.

Here's what you need to know:
- North-easterly winds are being recorded in Auckland, with Metservice forecasting winds up to 110km/h between 2pm and 4pm in the bridge area.
- Waka Kotahi (NZTA) have introduced speed restrictions on the Harbour Bridge.
- Drivers of heavy vehicles and motorcyclists are advised to travel via the Western Ring Route (State Highways 16 and 18).

Stay up to date with the latest road closures and disruptions by heading to Waka Kotahi's (NZTA) journey planner. You can find an alternative public transport route by using the AT Journey Planner.

What's your experience with pre-fabricated homes?

Kelly Dennett Reporter from Sunday Star Times

The Sunday Star-Times is looking into the rise of transportable/ kit-set/ pre fabricated homes. The upsides are build-efficiency, quality of design, and cost. The downsides appear to be land supply, red-tape with council and difficulty getting lending from banks. If you're willing to share your experience - good or bad - email kelly.dennett@stuff.co.nz, otherwise leave a comment. Is there an aspect of transportable housing you'd like us to enquire about for you?

Choosing an education in a covid world

St Peter's School

When New Zealand’s Alert Level 4 came into effect in March 2020, schools around the country faced the challenge of a transitioning from onsite to online learning.

As students adjusted to the shift in their educational environment, many schools were ill-prepared to move to quickly to online learning. Schools such as St Peter’s in Cambridge were readily prepared for a seamless transfer between classroom and digital learning.

With each student ready to use online platforms such as Google Classroom and Hangouts, a streamlined shift was enabled as soon as the lockdown occurred.

Find out why more families are choosing St Peter’s at our Open Day on 12 March.

Are you struggling to find a rental or buy a home in Auckland?

Caryn Wilkinson Reporter from Community News

Hello everyone,

I was hoping to get in contact with someone from the Māori, Pasifika and Indian community who have either struggled to find a rental or buy a home.

The housing crisis has affected all three groups particularly badly, so if there's anyone who comes from these groups who is willing to talk please drop me a message: ged.cann@stuff.co.nz

Thanks,
