At a recent MECOSS Community Networking Meeting, sprightly Brenda Loader (96), spoke about her plans to formally celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Howick's Horticultural Society in 2023 - the same year Brenda also turns100!
Because she feels she's not getting any younger, Brenda is putting a call out to those interested in getting involved with the planning of this special occasion, to come forward and join the organising committee.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
