The 3 Waters Reform is important!
Orakei Local Board is concerned that the proposed 3 Waters Reform will hamper/delay the important water quality work for Hobson Bay.
Please get online and support the councils proposed changes to the bill ensuring more local governance BEFORE 19 December.
What the reform means for Auckland?
The relationship between Auckland Council and the new entity will be more distant than it currently is between council and Watercare.
Currently Watercare is accountable to Aucklanders, through the elected members on Auckland Council's Governing Body.
Auckland Council appoints Watercare’s board of directors, and the law requires Watercare to comply with Auckland Council’s long-term plans and strategic direction.
In addition, the councillors approve Watercare’s Statement of Intent. A Statement of Intent is an organisation’s work programme and priorities for the next three years.

Auckland Harbour Bridge summer works
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is carrying out essential maintenance on the Auckland Harbour Bridge this December and January. The southbound clip-on lanes will be closed (24/7) from 26 December to 5 January for road resurfacing. Night-time lane restrictions will be in place throughout the summer for recoating work on the bridge. Traffic will still be able to travel in both directions at all times.
