Everyone is warmly invited to the annual Buddhist Summer School. The Opening Forum is free to attend on Thursday 23rd January at 6.30 pm. The speakers come from a rich diversity of backgrounds including Zen, Tibetan Buddhism, theology, visual arts, and the medical field. The opening forum will include a panel discussion with the speakers, and time for Q&A with the audience. Courses will be run in-person and via Zoom. The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.
