You will need to get an assessment done, and each regional council sets its own criteria for the assessments.
What you can get if you are eligible:
👉 If you are eligible you will get an electronic card or vouchers that allow you to get a discount of up to a 75% on taxi rides, up to a maximum fare. The maximum fare is set by your regional council. You must use one of the approved taxi companies for the scheme.
👉 If you have a carer, you can get subsidised taxi travel for both of you when you travel together.
The scheme also provides:
* funding to scheme providers to help purchase and install wheelchair hoists
* payment to the owner of the wheelchair accessible vehicle for each Total Mobility scheme member who requires the use of a wheelchair hoist or ramp.
How to apply:
Contact your regional council to apply to be part of the Total Mobility Scheme. Each region in New Zealand has different rules, so you need to check with your local council and find out what their rules are.

Mākereti Papakura, believed to be the first Indigenous woman to study at the University of Oxford, has been awarded a posthumous degree certificate.
Papakura sadly passed away in 1930, just weeks before she was due to present her thesis. Her research was later published as The Old-Time Māori — the first ethnographic study written by a Māori author.
We hope this brings a smile!

We are almost half-way through October and Halloween is creeping up on us! (It’s easy to miss — Christmas decorations seem to be popping up earlier every year!)

I am 22 male & a young graduate professional. I am quiet, tidy, kind, helpful & responsible. In my younger days, I was a school prefect & my enjoyments include playing the guitar/violin & photography.
My start date for employment (1st full-time job) is 16 Feb 2026 in CBD Wellington & I do not know anyone in Wellington. Public transport is important to central Wellington. The place would be furnished & walking distance to the supermarket as I will not have a car. Character references can be provided.
