Yesterday Kaipātiki Local Board members Melanie Kenrick, Paula Gillon, Adrian Tyler and I joined council project staff and Le Roys Bush volunteers to discuss the upcoming Stage 2 track work at Le Roys Bush Reserve.
While we were there, contractors were busy installing shoe cleaning stations to allow stage 1 (Waterfall Track) to reopen to the public over the next week. :)
The Stage 2 project will begin in a few months and completes the upgrade of the "spinal track" creating a lengthy step-free route that protects kauri from dieback disease and improves accessibility.
In 2021, Stage 3 will address the remaining tracks that connect to the side roads.

Dear fellow residents of Bayview and surrounding areas,

If you are against the roll-out of 5G without adequate research on health effects, please support the Auckland Protest tomorrow (Saturday January 25). We are meeting at 12 noon at the corner of Queen Street and Wakefield Streets in Auckland CBD, close to Aotea Square. There will be speeches, a singer/guitarist, artwork against 5G, banners and a march down Queen Street to the Viaduct.

This Auckland Protest is one of many Protests around New Zealand including Kaitaia, Whangarei, Mangawhai, Wellington, Gisborne, Christchurch, Nelson and Invercargill. Details of Protests around NZ can be found at this link: www.5g.org.nz...

The New Zealand National Day of Protest against 5G is part of the January 25 Global Day of Protest involving over 30 countries around the world.

Wondering what all the fuss is about? 5G is very different from existing 3G, 4G and wi-fi and involves higher frequency radiation. This higher frequency radiation will be beam-forming (laser-like) and will be absorbed by the skin and the eyes. The skin is not just an overcoat - it is an organ with many functions, including regulation of the immune system. Research on health effects of this type of radiation is almost non-existent. The Ministry of Health and Telcos are saying that research on existing systems (such as 3G. 4G and w-fi) can be applied to 5G. However, this is a totally unscientific assumption because the characteristics of the 5G radiation are very different from existing 3G, 4G and wi-fi.

Rolling out 5G technology that has not been adequately tested for safety is the height of irresponsibility - hence the Protests. Health must come before Profits.
