Hi Ho, To the Supermarket We Go!
I have never seen my parents
Really quite so excited
Pouring over shopping lists
And looking so delighted
Mum putting on her dress
and kicking up her heels
Dad putting on his game face
To get the food to cook the meals
A little like a game of roulette
I wish them well on their caper
As most stores are out of stock
Of necessities like loo paper
Looking like a surgeon
They face off with their masks
Prepared to ward off the virus
They wait in line, 2 metres apart
And then like a bull to a flag
The store allows them in
And quickly they disappear
Down aisle’s and out again
Never did I think the mundane
Could bring such delight
And when the Alert is over
We deserve a SHOUTOUT for doing what was right
Be Safe
Be Kind
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
