Splice have gone out to the restaurants of the neighbourhood this month asking if they can "spare a meal" to be auctioned over Trade Me, with all money raised going to the Lifewise Big Sleepout 2017.
We put it to them that feeding the homeless was one option but feeding those prepared to bid at auction, to dine in their fine establishments was another.

Now it's our turn. If you like great food in a nice restaurant and you are concerned about those neighbours for whom “home” has little permanence, warmth or safety – dive on into the auctions and make your contribution to the solution.
Click on the link to Trade Me below to see all of the auctions.
The restaurants have all given a specific dollar value to their vouchers but Splice ask that you consider matching their generosity and going a little further adding a little more on top in your bidding.

community + business + neighbours = a better neighbourhood for all

Here's a list of all the generous establishments taking part:
MONSOON POON
CAFÉ HANOI
MARVEL GRILL
The HIPGROUP - Amano, Ortolana, Milse
GEMMAYZE ST
CARMEN JONES
CITIZEN Q
SAIGON
The LANTERN ALLEY
MADAME GEORGE
THE CAKER

Hi peps,

I've noticed that during the evenings the noise levels seem to be staggeringly loud, at peak sleeping hours between 11pm and 4am. There are helicopters, cleaning vehicles, aeroplanes, construction noises from trucks. Has anyone else noticed these noise levels? Would anyone be willing to sign a petition to bring a blanket ban to these noise levels over the residential areas in Auckland?

The Symonds Street Junction Community Garden (Corner of Symonds + Mt Eden Rd) is turning a large patch of Kikuyu grass into farm/ food forest in the City!

We are using a technique called "lasagna gardening":

To do this, We need cardboard and freshly-raked leaves, to create a biodegradable base layer that is a barrier to stop the weeds getting through!

We also need your coffee grounds, tea bags, egg shells, grass clippings and any fruit/vege scaps for our compost layer!!

This is a really exciting time for our garden, as we are starting to establish a system of bokashi and larger scale worm/ regular composting too!

Please bring your organic waste (especially cardboard and leaves!), and maybe pop into the garden to check it out for yourself ;-)
