Pickleball starting up at Auckland Central YMCA
Our first session will be on Tuesday, May 21 @ 10am @YMCA in Pitt St . near the central fire station at the top of the street.
Open to all-comers of any age and fitness level, and no need to join the YMCA, which simply offers the venue and equipment.
If you don't know what Pickleball is you can always Google it, but in simple terms, it's like indoor tennis played with bats (called paddles) instead of racquets, and with a scoring system more like table-tennis.
The main thing is that it is a lot of fun, and anyone can soon pick up the game. So come along for an hour of fun and exercise.The cost is $6, so all you need to do is come along, wearing sensible soft shoes for the courts. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
