Mid Century Don Narvik 1960s Day Bed Sofa Bed Couch

Arabella from Grey Lynn

Up for offers is this solid wood vintage Narvik sofa bed from the 1960s, designed and made by New Zealand company Don.

The Narvik is a Danish-inspired design with elegant, streamlined armrests. It's a generous 3 - 4 seater and it folds out into a generous day bed.

It is upholstered in a stunning screenprinted fabric designed by Florence Broadhurst, whose screenprints and fabrics are highly sought after.

I paid $750 for this a couple of years ago but am open to offers.

Measurements (approx)

208cm long
76cm deep
73cm high

Collection

Collection from Grey Lynn. I would prefer payment and collection asap if possible as I'm selling to make room for a new baby who could arrive any day :)

Condition

The frame itself is in lovely vintage condition with just some light surface wear. I've given this a light sand in the past but a fresh sand and some oil would see it come up beautifully.

A couple of the spring things from the backrest are missing - this doesn't affect the couch functionally at all - and there is a slight crack/chip under the pointy end of the right armrest. This is hardly noticeable though.

This will need reupholstering as the fabric has seen better days. There are a number of tears and marks to the fabric on the seats and one of the zippers is broken. The backrest cushion covers are in much better condition with no tears or zip issues.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
