Although the sites are zoned for single houses, a loophole allows the 4 storey, 10 unit development to be proposed as an "integrated residential development".
However, putting aside that and the potential precedent it would set for all single house zoned properties, this particular clifftop site is very unsuitable for such a large development for a number of reasons, including the extent of the excavation, risk to cliff stability, the 56 "screw anchors" into the neighbouring reserve and road, the removal of a SEA area and covenant area, and a number of other non-complying aspects.
The Kaipatiki Local Board has already opposed the proposal and have requested speaking rights at the public hearing.
Thankyou to those who organised the meeting tonight and for everyone who attended!
For a great drone video showing the site at the top of the cliff (where the poisoned pohutakawa are) see here:

Some extra lighting was installed a few weeks ago and ever since then every night at bedtime I get a feeling like a strong electrical current is going through me. In the morning my hands at the centre where I believe is the electrical entry point ache. My legs up to my knees are sore and stiff. Last night I happened to hold a metal object and the pain in the upper body went away. How can I convince any family member there is a problem. The electrician who inserted the lights is convinced it is static electricity and was not prepared to even consider what I tried to explain.
At another property in Taranaki I had to put in a new ground strap because the old one had broken. I have told the family this but they are not convinced. If there is someone there with electrical knowledge please help.

The Kaipatiki Local Board's project to install signage at the entrances to street-to-street walkways is now underway. The project also includes directional signage at nearby intersections to help pedestrians find the nearest walkway.
The project has come well under budget, so last night the Local Board requested that the walkway signage project be extended to Glenfield, Hillcrest and Sunnybrae.
Funded by the Kaipatiki Local Board via the Auckland Transport Local Board Capital Fund.

The vote passed 5 in favour; 3 against.
The Notice of Motion was signed and supported by myself, Danielle Grant Anne-Elise Smithson, Adrian Tyler and Paula Gillon.
A copy of the decision will now be sent to the other 20 local boards for their consideration and I hope that they will join us in putting pressure on Auckland Transport.
Attached is the full Notice of Motion, with information on how Auckland Transport has the ability to delegate powers to local boards, although for the last 9 years it has chosen not to.
