Poll: Here’s a glimpse of Auckland Council’s vision for Queen Street. What are your thoughts?
Auckland Council has released a new design for its plan to upgrade Queen Street.
Footpaths will be widened by up to seven metres to from Customs Street to Mayoral Drive, and this layout will retrofitted to the northern section of Queen Street between Customs and Shortland Street.
Private cars will be blocked from travelling the length of Queen Street by introducing an Essential Vehicles Area (EVA) between Wellesley and Wakefield Streets.
This means only essential vehicles including buses, bikes, mopeds, motorcycles, goods and service vehicles and emergency vehicles will be allowed.
The vision is to change Queen Street into a place for people rather than cars. What are your thoughts?

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
