MetService has issued a heavy rain warning for Coromandel Peninsula.
Valid: 19 hours from 4:00pm Monday to 11:00am Tuesday.
Forecast: Periods of heavy rain. Expect 80 to 110mm of rain to accumulate during this period. Peak intensities of 10 to 20mm/h.
An update for severe weather will be issued by 9:00pm Monday 9 Sep 2019.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
