Vision Kāpiti | Paekākāriki and Waikanae drop-in sessions

The Team from Kāpiti Coast District Council

Calling all Paekākāriki and Waikanae residents – our community boards have been collaborating with their communities on the Vision Kāpiti project, developing draft local visions based on your input. We've reviewed your initial feedback and identified key themes reflecting your local community's needs and aspirations, but we want you to let us know if we’ve got it right.

Come along to your community board’s workshop or drop-in sessions to hear more and share your thoughts:
? Paekākāriki – Wednesday 15 May, 7–8.30pm, St Peter's Village Hall
? Waikanae – Tuesday 21 May, 5–7pm, Waikanae Community Centre, 28 Utauta Street, Waikanae.
And there's going to be pop-up engagement hubs at all of our libraries in June.

Does what we’ve heard so far reflect what’s important to you? Is anything missing? Come along and help us land a future vision for Kāpiti, together. To find out more, visit haveyoursay.kapiticoast.govt.nz...

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

Street trees and the leaves they drop

John and Linda from Waikanae

To the person who decided rather than speak to me they would leave a message in my mail box, please have the backbone to come and chat. I did not plant the offending tree and am keen to keep the stormwater drain clear. The council do not sweep our street often enough. What do you suggest I do with the leaves ?
