A pensioner’s housing plight has raised questions about whether people living in commercial buildings could actually help revitalise towns.
Dave Stewart - a 74-year-old recent cancer survivor - was late last year served with an eviction notice by his landlords to be out by Christmas Day from business zone premises in Te Aroha’s Whitaker St.
And as New Zealand faces housing shortages and struggles with empty shops in town centres, some are questioning the “black and white division” of business and residential.
