Make a difference with your strong interpersonal skills

Ainsley Darvell from Flying Kites - Albany

Part time work in Browns Bay

Support a young person with a disability

Are you empathetic and confident?

A family in Browns Bay on the North Shore are looking for someone to support their 12-year-old daughter after school. For two or three afternoons initially, the role is to do some baking together and help with homework. This cute and curious child loves to ask all the questions and will love to have you there for her support. She loves games, baking and going to the playground and her disability can mean she doesn’t know when it’s time to finish.

She needs reassurance and clear answers to her questions. Your interpersonal skills and strong boundaries mean you are very aware of how you interact with her and guide conversations that won’t get misinterpreted or confused. Structure, consistency and ability to stick to the plan are crucial for success. This may suit a confident mature person with the ability to understand the bigger picture.

Are you up for the challenge to support this young girl to be successful? You will need a full licence and a car. Pay is $30 ph.

If you are interested, please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
