Active person to support young man during the week
• Do you love to help people learn and grow?
• Part-time work in Mt Eden, mornings and/or afternoons
• Support a young man to be independent
We are looking for one or two people to work 3 days across the week supporting a man in his early 20’s with Downs Syndrome. Days will change each week depending on mums shifts so flexibility is important.
You will be a peer support for this young man. He needs someone to help him with his morning (6-9am) and afternoon (3-7pm) routine. In the mornings we need someone to help prepare breakfast, get up and ready and go to his daily programme. As a diabetic he will need support to test himself each day and give his insulin. If you know how to do this then great, if not then mum will teach you. For the afternoons you will be picking him up from his programme and going home, prepare afternoon tea and then do some fun activities. Things like going to the gym, going for a swim or a walk.
This young man would love someone fun, chatty to hang out with and have a sense of humour. Someone who can have a laugh whilst being a great support developing his self-management skills. A car and full licence are essential for this role.
