What I should have said, is that I think it is ridiculous that the poor dogs are banned from from beach during the day, so can’t go for a swim with the family, and YET cars are parking and driving on the beach which is illegal. Council comes down hard on the dog rules, but do nothing about the cars. 11 cars yesterday and it’s not even peak time. Council should get their act together, I don’t think banning dogs is warranted, the majority of them are wonderful and not a danger, but the cars are a danger to unsuspecting kids.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
