Between this Saturday 1 and Sunday 17 November, the Academy Gallery at the entrance of Queens Wharf is hosting one of the annual highlights of the Wellington Arts Calendar. An exhibition of over 300 paintings by watercolour artists from throughout New Zealand and a magnificent exhibition of ceramic art by members of the Wellington Potters Association. Free Entry and free demonstrations during weekends.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
