Why we love Te Mata School ❤️
Te Mata is a school that celebrates children. If you have ever been to one of our assemblies, or even near the school when we have one going on, you will be familiar with the cheering and enjoyment from beginning to end.
We are an academic school; a sporting school; a musical school; a mathematical school; a scientific school; a literary school; a culinary school; an artistic school; an interesting school; an entertaining school; a celebratory school and so much more. Te Mata is a school where every child counts and is celebrated.
If you are local with a 5 or 6 year old (or about to be 5 year old) or know someone local, or looking to move to out beautiful village, with a little one, looking for a great school, come see ours and meet our team of amazing staff and teachers.
We’d love to meet you.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
