We employ coordinators with higher levels of ECE training to support these parents in their roles as educators and to ensure we are able to provide a rich learning environment
for the children in our community. As many families at our centre do not have family support networks locally, our centre becomes their village.
Our current playground equipment is outdated, in need of maintenance to meet our health and safety and licencing requirements, they take up a large area which does not allow the space to be utilised to the best standard and is not suitable for the smaller members of our centre to use.
Shirley Playcentre have been working hard to fundraise to create a natural sensory path for our children to explore and would like to be able to purchase new playground equipment that would reflect the open-ended play that we are trying to achieve with our sensory path and pay to removed the older equipment that is concreted in. We would like Tredsafe boxes which can be used as hideaways, for jumping, climbing, balancing and have the versatility for us to regularly move around to create new environments, giving the children opportunities to test not only their physical abilities but also creativity, imagination and problem-solving skills. Child-led play is at the core of Playcentre philosophy and these offer the flexibility for the children to work together with other children and with the support of adults to reconfigure the equipment how they want. This flexibility also allows us to set it up in different configurations to suit all ranges of physical abilities of the children on session that day.
Feel free to call us 03-980 0576 or check out www.playcentre.org.nz... if you want to find out more how Playcentre operates as a non-profit whānau-run cooperative.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, we are very excited about the future for our outdoor space and we hope you vote for us. We have attached photos of our current playground and what we would like to get.

These issues could include, but are not limited to, illness, bereavement, displacement, family violence, financial strain and addiction. In these situations children are often the first to become vulnerable, especially when a family’s usual supports, like friends and family are unable to help. When it is considered in the best interests of the child to spend some time away from home, Cholmondeley Children’s Centre is here to help. Our organisation’s aim is to give children an opportunity to build resilience, while gifting time to families to manage stress and crisis, through provision of a fun, camp-like respite with 24 hour care and an education programme.
At Cholmondeley we believe that all children have the right to be unconditionally respected by adults, feel safe and have their physical, emotional, social and cultural needs met. To meet children’s needs we have created a safe, warm, stimulating, nurturing environment and retreat.
Our organisation has a long history of caring for Canterbury children in need - we’ve been operating since 1925 and have improved the lives of over 25,000 children and their families. We are 80 per cent community funded so rely heavily on the generosity of supporters like AMI Community Grants, to continue to provide this vital service.
Cholmondeley Children’s Centre’s vision is ‘Value Our Children’ - a Canterbury haven, creating a meaningful and enduring difference for every child and their whanau. Our core purpose is to ensure that every child leaves Cholmondeley with enhanced well-being. Our short term goal is to create a safer and beneficial playground environment. Our long term goal is to continue to update and refresh areas around St Patrick's for students to enjoy, including remarking of netball courts, and continuing to be able to support students and teachers, for example financing needed school supplies. The current main playground has bark that is not suitable in a playground. It has turned to dirt under the top layer of bark and is uneven. Our plans are to extend the current main playground and add a jungle gym into this extension. The jungle gym will be around 9.8m long, with the height ranging up to 1.8m, in order for all ages of students to be able to benefit and enjoy the jungle gym. Introducing a jungle gym to St Patrick's will helps students to improve their hand and eye coordination as well as body strengthening. As per regulations the playground has to have loose fill with 30cm depth. The grant will be used to purchase 50 cubic metres of loose fill for the playground to comply with the current regulations and to last longer than the current mulch bark. We also need to repaint some of the existing playground equipment which will make this equipment safer, by not rusting etc, for the students in the years to come

The track is beside a lake and with more lighting we can ensure the safety of our young ones. Our club has a very young age with our riders from the age of 2 to 50+ and with more or upgraded lighting this will help us with safety. We also need lighting on our start ramp as it is very dark under the Weather Shield and some of our young riders become frightened. To receive any funding would be a major help as we move into our 2019-2020 season.

Established in 1993, HWFC has a reputation for providing quality counselling, family support, group programmes and events which are affordable, accessible and meet the needs of the South Kaipara community.
We are the only organisation to provide such services in our area and the demand is ever increasing each year due to rapid demographic growth. Local based services and programmes are vital as limited transport restricts access to wider networks. Operating in a rurally isolated community it is essential that we work in collaboration with other organisations and professionals and we truly value these relationships.
We build relationships that foster connectedness and work with local partners to strengthen well-being initiatives which ensure the best outcomes for the community. Through events and group programmes we bring people together and connect them with local services and supports as well as encouraging strong family values.
At HWFC we work alongside our clients to identify their needs, priorities and strengths and we assist them in implementing a plan that will help them to achieve their goals. An AMI Community Grant will enable HWFC to continue to build resilience and capacity in women, men, young people, children and families. This funding supports our clients to learn and develop coping skills, make positive changes in their lives, find solutions to the challenges they face and recover from trauma, grief, loss and addiction.
The assistance HWFC provides empowers clients to break the cycle of abuse – through this we facilitate and enable lasting change for future generations. Through supporting clients to strengthen their networks within the community, we expect them to become less isolated, more resourceful and less at risk. We truly believe that our interventions support safety and well-being, break down barriers and have a positive impact on not only the individuals that enter our service, but also for their children, families and the wider community.
Safe, supportive and empowered families are vital to the well-being of the South Kaipara community.

Cycling is great for physical health and fitness, contributes to mental wellbeing, enables access to recreational places difficult to get to on foot or bus, offers a fast and efficient transport option and generates a sense of freedom and independence.
However for many people on low incomes, buying a bike can be fraught with difficulties because cheap bikes can be prone to malfunctioning.
To help address this issue Community Focus Trust and Public Health initiated a project whereby people who access Specialist Mental Health Services or Corrections are supported to buy good quality, second-hand bikes.”
The ‘BuyCycles’ project which is a collaboration between Community Focus Trust & Public Health, provides the initial finance to buy a bike which suits the client’s choice, physical needs and price range. The client then pays off their debt, interest free, at a rate that does not cause financial hardship.
This supported purchase model is a novel approach towards alleviating a health disadvantage, in this case a transport disadvantage. Feedback from customers and case managers in the first seven months has been extremely positive.
“They say the bike has also provided them with an enjoyable method to increase their physical activity which has a positive spin-off for their overall health.” Over two-thirds say they use their bike every day, are saving money on other types of transport and their mental wellbeing has improved.
“One customer said riding in Bottle Lake Forest or up the Rapaki track helps his mood.”
Most clients have said it is easy to budget $5 per week and already 13 have completely paid their debt. With a sharp lookout for quality bargains and the small team of volunteer mechanics fine-tuning the purchases for free, the average cost of a bike, helmet and lock has been just over $100.
A few bikes have been donated and these have been restored and on-sold for a fair price which has helped offset the unforeseen expense, for example, when two clients had their BuyCycles bikes stolen the project was able to replace them with no extra debt accrued, she says.
This AMI Community Grant would enable us to continue to purchase not only bikes but helmets and locks, along with repair equipment.

Although we are based in Christchurch, NZCR operate throughout the entirety of New Zealand. The aims of our charity are as follows: To rescue Chihuahuas from situations of neglect and abuse and place them in suitable foster care arrangements and/or permanent homes; To collect and re-home Chihuahuas which are unclaimed and due to be euthanized from Council Pounds in the areas in which the Trust is operating; To provide facilities and resources to assist in the control of the population of unwanted Chihuahuas by de-sexing those placed in the Trust’s care; To raise funds for to benefit of Chihuahuas in the care of the Trust, as required; and To prevent, by education or other means, irresponsible breeding and ownership of the breed and educate the public as to how the breed should be best cared for, so that there are less Chihuahuas surrendered to be re-homed. We ensure ALL trust dogs are: de-sexed, vaccinated up to date, micro-chipped (and registered on the New Zealand Companion Animal Register), registered with the local Council, flea and wormed and fit and healthy to be adopted generally. However, as a breed specific rescue, we are finding that we often have to go over and above in terms of what “normal” all-breed rescues may have to provide in terms of medical treatment. As a breed, Chihuahuas are known to have extensive dental issues, joint problems, chronic heart failure and eye issues. This means our medical costs are the largest expense we have as a rescue. NZCR are a small charity. We have not received any grants as yet and do not receive any government funds. Our Rescue survives solely off of donations, fundraising efforts and support from sponsors. Currently, we simply do not have the funds that many of the larger and well-known Rescues and charities in our area do. A quick search of the charities register confirms this. NZCR work with breeders or show dog exhibitors to take in dogs they no longer have a use for, backyard breeders, local Pounds and Animal Shelters, private surrenders and other Rescues to ensure that dogs are safe, their medical issues are addressed and they can be safely re-homed to loving, stable, forever homes through our Trust.NZCR are very proud to say we have assisted over 45 dogs throughout the Country. We are New Zealand’s first and only Chihuahua breed specific Rescue. Our team consists of Trustees and foster carers who are knowledgeable about the breed with various qualifications and knowledge on dog rehabilitation; and our vet is a passionate expert on the breed and New Zealand’s only ethical accredited Chihuahua breeder. We believe we offer these dogs the very best chance at safely being re-homed and also take on 100% of their medical costs and ensure they are fit for adoption. If we were able to receive your assistance, we could extend our outreach further.

The club started a program last year in term 4 where as the club offered free adult beginners lesson's and still does today. The objective is Adults can learn to play confidently with each other and also play with there children whom are taking lesson's as well. So they can practice as families and improve their playing ability together. To play with other adults and become club members.
The club provides a coaching to teach adults so they can enjoy to play the wonderful game. The Adult beginners runs on thursday nights at 7pm after the junior coaching tennis program. The club is used at nights under flood lights but a couple of our pole flood lights are blown but thse two lights blow on a regular basis because the control gear is faulty and lamps may only last a few months, whereas they should last years because just for the lamps themselves cost just under $500 ea.
The club would like to upgrade these two fittings with New LED light fittings which will cost around $1500 ea installed. This will be the path forward as other lights fizzle out, to replace with LED floods.
Our club would really appreciate to have full illumination by all light fittings operating and better lighting for night playing.
Thankyou for the opportunity to aplply for funding.
