This is known as "Corking" and is not a problem. Basically it is just the inside growing quicker than the outside. Sounds odd, but true. In South America these chillies fetch more at markets because of the belief that they are hotter and tastier, although there is no proof of this. The message here is if you have this happening with your chillies, don't throw them out.....they are fine. Enjoy.

The Pinnacles walk near Thames is brimming with history and spectacular sights.
It also has a whole lot of whopping great stone steps to clamber up. Have you made the climb?

KFC's Chizza is creeping across Asia and has just landed in Singapore.
It's heading ever closer to New Zealand. But will it land here? Do we really need this?

HPV-related cancers take a long time to develop, the viruses are mostly transmitted by teenagers and young adults but often aren’t diagnosed until later. That’s why it’s important for children to be immunised when they are young. Around 80% of people will be exposed to HPV at some point in their life. Protecting children before they are exposed to HPV will protect their health in the future.

I received a very receptive hearing from the Board members and District Councillors present. It will now be up to the politicians to decide whether Thames will have a public transport service. If you support the proposal then I would urge you to contact all of the board members, local councillors, and the mayor. Their email addresses and phone numbers can be found on the Thames-Coromandel District Council website.
The proposal is for a 15 seater minibus hourly service commencing at 9 AM with six circuits of the town, the last at 2 PM – Monday to Friday. The service is targeted at the elderly and others who do not have access to a vehicle. The proposed route would commence at Bupa/Tararu, divert into Moanataiari, then into the CBD/Goldfields, past the hospital. From there the service would go south down Pollen Street, then loop up into hill suburbs, down Brunton Crescent and out to Parawai/Booms/Bupa and back more directly through Banks Street and Rolleston Street to the CBD.

A six-month public transport trial has been proposed for Thames, with a bus route planned from Parawai to Tararu. Would you or anyone you know use it?

Remember:
- In a large local tsunami causing earthquake, roads may be damaged or blocked, so include walking.
- Don't wait for an official warning, there may not be time in a local source tsunami.
- Remember long OR strong, get gone.
