To reduce the number of patients in hospital and attending our clinics over the time leading up to and during the proposed industrial action we will be:
- Rescheduling appointments for surgery, treatments and outpatient clinics.
- Giving priority to emergency, critical care and maternity.
- Still providing some essential outpatient clinics such as cancer and dialysis treatments.
- Contacting all patients whose operations or clinic appointments are affected by the strike.
For patients remaining in the wards, these patients will receive higher level nursing cares only. Basic nursing duties will not be performed. We would really appreciate help from patients’ whānau and friends in the wards to provide support with washing, dressing and feeding.

What do you think about your nurses rejecting the latest pay offer from District Health Boards? It's now been confirmed that 24 hours of strike action will begin at 7am Thursday.
A "majority" of the New Zealand Nurses' Organisation's (NZNO) more-than-30,000 members have chosen to take industrial action - a move described as "unprecedented".

Cyclists on the so-called RailTrail still endure the utterly stupid 57 gates and their dangerous judder bar cattle stops on the section between Thames and Paeroa. Fortunately, newer sections built along the stopbanks have enormously fewer cattle crossings and these were built wider and with much safer metal bar grids. Thus the sections from Kopu to Pipiroa and onwards to Waikakaruru have been recommended within the wider cycling communities (i.e. Auckland Hamilton, Tauranga and further) as excellent sections for beginners and even school groups.
Yet to the dismay of the Thames Cycle Group, on Tue 3 July, large sections of the cycleway between Pipiroa and Waitakaruru had been deeply corrugated by enormous tractors gathering grass bales from alongside the trail. I found them very uncomfortable to judder over and at least one cyclist was so concerned for her safety she took photos of the corrugations and emailed them to me. See, www.facebook.com...
These ALL TERRAIN vehicles are fully capable of traversing the paddocks alongside the cycle trail, thus the damage caused to kilometres of the cycleway is totally unnecessary.
Evermore businesses are benefiting from the RailTrail, so it has growing importance to many locals. It is certainly time to give much more thought to the cycling community.

Before you do - there's a few things you really need to know about. Take a minute and read the tips below to ensure you're asking the right questions and getting the best loan for you.
1. Shop around! Interest rates, fees and terms must be made available to you by the lender. Make sure you compare details and make an informed decision about what loan is best for you.
2. Choose a lender. Did you know that when you borrow money to buy something, you don’t have to borrow from the same person who is selling the goods?
3. Understand. Whoever is loaning you the money must ask questions to make sure you can afford the loan. They also need to help you understand the key terms of the loan.
4. Be prepared. You'll need to provide your lender with information to show that you can afford to repay the loan. This might include proof of income and expenses so make sure you have it ready.
